Lexi update-
I quit my amazing job of almost 4 years to move to Colorado and interview with CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigation). Starting on May 12th I had an intensive week long interview for an entry level DNA Forensic Scientist position. This would have been a career start over for me but I was excited for the opportunity to stay in forensics but learn a new discipline. Monday was an oral exam in front of 4 people I would potentially work with, as well as a written exam. I received a passing score on Monday and was scheduled for my polygraph on Tuesday. This was my second polygraph exam of my life but I can assure you that they don't get less nerve wracking even for miss goodie two shoes here :) I also passed this stage and was invited for an executive interview on Thursday. (This is where things get good...) The interview went very well and then I was thrown the biggest curve ball so far. The Forensic Services Director decided to go rogue and offer me a position 5 minutes after my interview. She said I had done very well through the interview process and they could hire me for DNA or I could come on as a Toxicologist and help them start 3 labs from the ground up across the state. At this point the Toxicology lab does not exist and they haven't even written job descriptions. This is a HUGE opportunity and they were about as excited as I was. It's an amazing feeling to be wanted and have all my hard work and experience be recognized. I will start June 2nd and will initially be doing some travel to Grand Junction since this is where the first lab will be started. I'm very excited but nervous as well for all the new added pressure.
House update-
We are currently renting a 2 bedroom, super tiny, cheap apartment on a 3 month lease. Its all brand new and works just fine but its been an adjustment for everyone. And half our belongings are in a storage unit. We have continued to get a lot of traffic on the house in SLC. Once I got a job and buying another house became an option we were getting antsy for an offer to come in. We ended up dropping the price to it's realistic price point and received an offer this past Friday. We ended up being very far apart and ultimately had to reject the offer which is terrifying when you are no longer living in a house but having to pay for it. Thankfully we ended up receiving a second offer from a different buyer on Saturday night and ultimately came to an agreement and we close June 10th!!!! We really don't want to extend our apartment living or pay month to month so we are scheduled to look at houses here in Denver on Saturday! We are really excited and hope we can find something with the limited supply and not pay an arm and a leg and naming rights to our future children.
So far we have been extremely fortunate in our big move to Colorado and can only hope things continue.
Everett
What can I say...he is an amazing little boy. He was so good on the drive out there really aren't words. My amazing sister Greta flew out to SLC mainly to help with E. Without her we would have never made it. She helped us pack until midnight and then was up again at 4am to pack some more and then drove with Everett and I. Her patience to play "peak" with Everett for 10 + minutes straight was amazing :) He never once had a meltdown in the car and Greta is the reason why. He had a horrible cold and he still did great. We'd recline his seat for nap time and he'd nap! This is our 3rd week in the apartment and he has finally adjusted and is sleeping like normal again. The first 2 weeks he was up around 6/6:30 and we've finally adjusted back to 7:15/7:45! He is also off his hunger strike. Also most likely related to the move.
-pretty much running
-loves the park and slides. He definitely is our son and now goes down the slides (even the big twisty slides) by himself. He prefers to go down on his belly feet first but would go down head first if we let him.
-He mimics everything! He claps when we clap, slaps his leg when we call Cali
-Started shaking his head no for the first time
-Turning into a little monkey. Can crawl on top of the ottoman all by himself and now uses Cali as a step stool to get on the couch.
-Absolutely loves his puppy. They play fetch and tug and Cali is the first thing he wants when he wakes up from sleep or a nap. Always asking for his "ba"
-His understanding is crazy. We'll ask if he wants breakfast or lunch and he runs over to his chair and tries to crawl in. He says "ma" for milk and will go to the refrigerator when he wants some. After dinner we say its bath time and he runs to the bathroom.
-He can point to his tongue when you ask him.
-He LOVES to read. At least 4 times a day it gets quiet and I wonder what he's getting into. I find him in his room with a book in his lap. He'll hold it up to me and then crawl in my lap so I can read it to him. Seriously melts your heart.
-Pointing at everything
-Still drooling like crazy
-Found daycare but is on the complete opposite side of where we'll probably end up living so that's gonna be a problem...
Not very many pictures this month but here are the ones I've got.
