I seem to always apologize at the start of every blog these days...between moving, traveling and being sick we have been so busy!
I started work on June 16th. It's been a whirlwind 2 months. Lots of responsibility and decision making. I'm still a one woman show so that's been a bit tough. We're starting to get some new instruments and equipment ordered so hopefully in the next 60 days we can start getting some data. It's amazing the things in a lab that you take for granted on a daily basis that I've had to find and get ordered. Pipettes, tape, centrifuges, vortexers, refrigerators etc. Half the time I love it and the other half I wonder if I'm crazy and wish I was a lowly analyst. Too late to turn back now! :)
June 18th my mom flew in to watch Everett so Andy and I could attend the Andy Ney and Katie Starr wedding in Chicago. It was a great adult only weekend and a beautiful wedding. I hadn't been to Chicago since I could remember so we did lots of touristy things. We walked to Navy Pier, rented bikes and biked along Lake Shore, checked out some fountains and saw The Bean.

We flew back to Denver on Sunday and Andy left again on Monday for training in Madison.
We moved into our new house June 28th. Andy's mom flew in to help with Everett and some of Andy's college friends helped with the big stuff so we were done by Saturday night! House pictures are at the bottom.
July 4th, my sister Gabrielle moved to Denver. My mom, dad and Grandpa helped drive her out and move her into our vacant apartment. We checked out some breweries and they visited the Botanical Garden and Air Museum.

I went to Grand Junction the next week and came home to a very sick Everett. He had a high fever starting Tuesday night. I took off Friday and took him to the doctor. His fever finally broke on Saturday and then he got a rash. We think he had Roseola. So hard seeing him feel so bad. He has quite the gag reflex so getting Tylenol in him to help with the fever was a struggle. The cuddles were nice though :)

We were so happy he was feeling good again. Just in time to get on a plane and travel back to MN for my sister Greta's wedding. They did a cute little backyard ceremony and reception and it was perfect. Everett did great on both our flights. We thought maybe he might sleep and the trip would be easier if we booked flights late at night and early in the morning. He didn't sleep at all but he didn't try to run around so I'll call it a half win. We landed in MSP at 11pm on Friday night (ouch) and then took the 6am flight Monday morning and went straight to daycare and work. Never gonna do that again...Essentially Everett was awake from 3am until noon bc daycare missed the "he needs a morning nap" memo. It was a great short trip and we were so glad we were able to make it back. We spent Saturday with my family for the wedding and then were able to see Andy's parents, sister, brother-in-law, nephew and niece for dinner Sunday. Everett absolutely adores his big cousin Owen and just followed him around.

Gabrielle moved in with us the week of August 1st. Nice to have an extra set of hands to help with Everett. He is absolutely in love with Auntie Gabs, her puppy Marni and kitty Valentini. He loves to help her work in the morning and can not wait to go visit the quarantined kitty and feed the animals at the "zoo". We call the puppy and kitty the zoo because they are holed up in a tiny room in the basement.

The next 3 weeks we were all sick! We all got a cold the week we were back in Denver. Everett recovered quickly but it stuck around for Andy and I. I was lucky enough to get my first sinus infection ever. I finally finished antibiotics earlier this week and am back to my normal self. I was pretty worthless and was going to bed at 8pm. So glad to be feeling better.
 |
| He's also a total boy and obsessed with power tools and lawn equipment. Helping dad and mom construct a bean bag game. |
Everett had his 18 month appointment on Monday, August 11th. We were really excited to see how much he had grown since we missed his 15 month appointment because of our move from SLC. He is 28.5 lbs and is in the 93rd percentile for weight. I just about fainted. He's come a long way from 5lb 10 oz and 3rd percentile for weight. He is also very tall! 33 inches and 70% percentile. He isn't talking at all yet but I'm trying not to worry. He doesn't even say yes or no but most people tell me that I should be happy about that. He signs more, milk, please and thank you and it is about the cutest thing ever. He puts everything he has into his please and you can't help but smile. He now says woof instead of baa for the dogs, he can growl when you ask him what the lion says and he does the car sounds when he plays with his car. He completely understands everything we say and can follow any direction such as sit down, go sit in your highchair for dinner, find your shoes, go give that to dad, go upstairs for bath time. He runs everywhere and completely hates his car seat right now. Even for the 5 minute drive to and from daycare he has to have his sippy or food otherwise he has a full on tantrum. He's still stubborn as ever and knows exactly what he wants and doesn't want. He still loves music and dancing, animals and being outside. He has shown his boy colors by being obsessed with power tools and lawn equipment. Andy and I built a beanbag game this past weekend and Everett had to be right there helping. He also had to be outside watching intently as Andy mowed the grass and weed whacked.

We drove back to MN August 15-20 to spend some time at the cabin and in the cities with my family. Our daycare lady is on vacation the 18th-20th so we figured we may as well make a vacation out of it. We are leaving after work on Friday and driving through the night so Everett will sleep and we won't have to entertain him for 12 hours. Of course we didn't take very many pictures...

| Andy got rear ended Aug 23rd. 1st accident for either of us since we've been together. He was fine and Rav is getting fixed. The other guy didn't have insurance so that has been fun... |
I was then out of town the last week of August. My boss and I traveled across the country to visit other Toxicology labs. We stopped in Raleigh NC, Little Rock AK and Oklahoma City OK. Of course none of the flights were nonstop so I was on 7 different flights that week and 3 different hotel rooms. Yikes. The week went fast and I was happy to be home.

This past weekend we went up with the Yehl's to Dillion. We did some mountain biking, hiking and paved trail biking. Everett and I had a cold again so we struggled all last week to sleep. I even brought him in bed with me I was so desperate. Andy was out of town at a training so it was just us. Now we are trying to break him of being rocked and cuddled...haven't had to do that since he was super little.

Everett fell off a kid sized chair at daycare on Thursday. I was supposed to be out of town on Thursday but ended up coming home Wednesday night. So glad I was home. Andy flew out to Charleston so he wasn't able to come to the ER. We waited 4 hours to get 4 stitches. He missed lunch and nap time but was such a good boy as the picture above shows. He was a trooper. He got his arms put behind his back inside of a pillowcase and then wrapped his whole body in a sheet. I got to hold down his legs and arms while then nurse held down his head. The numbing cream had worn off before they did the lidocaine shot and then they didn't wait before stitching. Super fun. Poor kid could feel it all. He fought with all his might and I don't blame him at all. My entire body is sore and I feel like I ran 10 miles after trying to keep him still. But he didn't skip a beat and you'd never know he has stitches. We haven't had to give him tylenol and he doesn't try to touch it at all.

House Pictures!
Finally, I know...we couldn't be happier with our new house. It was listed as 4 beds 4 baths but is 5 beds and an office. 3700 sq feet and on a super quiet half cul-de-sac backing up to the bike trail. Apparently we have a thing for blue/grey houses...

And saving the best for last...if you kept reading this far thank you!
Andy, Everett, Cali and I are very happy to announce the newest addition to our family! We didn't think that we were stressed or busy enough :) I'm 13.5 weeks with a due date of March 25th. So far this pregnancy couldn't be any different than with Everett. I had a couple rough days right away at 6-7 weeks but in general I have felt great! I was so nauseous and exhausted the first trimester with Everett. This has so far been amazing and I feel completely normal. Well, besides the clothes starting to get tight again...Mentally it is completely different as well! The weeks fly by because I'm not completely consumed with the idea of being pregnant and the unknowns it brings. Everett keeps us more than preoccupied which also might have something to do with it. We are very excited and are looking forward to finding out if Everett will have a little brother or sister!
Thanks again for checking in! Crossing my fingers we can all stay healthy so I can get these posts done monthly again!
Love,
Lexi, Andy, Everett, Cali and #2 Baby May
