Everett is 8 months old!

| Hi Mom. |
 |
| This pretty much sums up Everett in one picture :) |
We took Everett's 6 month pictures on August 24th at a place called Wheeler Farm. We got them back in September and they turned out great! Here are a couple of our favorites.
SLC had it's first snow in the mountains last week, and the leaves are changing quickly. The days are getting shorter and the winter clothes, jackets and mittens have been dug out of the closet. Our little family has had quite the trying month but I think things are starting to turn around!
Right after the last post Everett had a bout of diarrhea which led to horrible diaper rash. He's never had diaper rash before so we were in new territory. We did diaper cream for a week. The diarrhea got worse instead of better and his bum looked fire engine red. We hadn't taken him in to see his Pediatrician because he had no other symptoms of being sick. He was his happy self, sleeping fine and eating well, not acting like his stomach hurt and had no fever. After a week he starting to refuse solids and his back side was definitely starting to hurt him. Of course the doctor's office didn't tell us anything significant. We still don't know what caused his tummy troubles. They suggested adding Culturelle to boost his good gut bacteria and to cut out sweet foods to try and thicken up the poo (sorry) and to plop him in the bath every time he poo'd to help the diaper rash. Super fun when he's pooping 8 times a day and pooping through his clothes. I stayed home with him 1 day and Andy stayed home 1 day as well. The Culturelle and diet change did nothing and it was 2 weeks of the bath routine before we finally started to see an improvement in the poop and rash department. So whatever was going on worked it's way out. 2 days later he got a cold :) Gotta love babies!

| Butt hurts but still smiling! |

| So many baths but at least he's happy! |
On top of the above issue our Civic was in and out of the shop for 3 weeks straight. Beyond annoyed and inconvenienced. Andy and I were carpooling, using our PTO to pick up and drop off the car and relying on our AMAZING daycare lady to take Everett early or pick up late to deal with car issues. I got stranded once on the side of the road in rush hour and we towed the Civic with the Rav using some old climbing rope. Sara and Zane were amazing and loaned us their "spare" Pontiac for a week while the Honda was getting a new head gasket and thermostat. After a month of roller coaster emotions, frustration and $$ we decided to cut our losses, trade in the Civic and purchased a 2010 Subaru Legacy.
Less than 36 hours later we were buying 4 new tires...we can only hope our car troubles are behind us.

| The flat tire culprit...ugh |

| Sick day with mom! |
 |
There's a first time for everything! I went to make his bottle
and came back to find him sleeping! Crazy kid. |
 |
| One of the last short sleeve days! |
 |
Jeans! 9 month onesie and 0-3 month jeans.
Doesn't seem quite right. Promptly took them off because
they were so tight :) |

 |
| Everett LOVES his puppy. She is becoming more tolerant. |
 |
| Staring contest. Ready go. |
 |
| 2 weeks after the hunger strike we have a happy carrot face! |
 |
| My little sweetheart |

First time in the big boy chair at a restaurant!
Was very excited to just look around and refused to smile. |
 |
| Another cold :( |
Andy's family came into town this weekend. We had a great time! Kathy, Katie, Avery and Emmy flew in late Thursday night, Andy took a full day and I took a half day on Friday. We hiked to Donut Falls on Saturday and the crew went rock climbing with Andy on Sunday.

| Donut falls. Trail was snowy and muddy but still fun! |
 |
| Soooo tired. Poor kid loved the hike but missed a couple naps so was pretty unhappy by the time we got home. |

New stuff for month 8
-Wearing 12 month clothes
-Loves his puffs. He is getting sooo good at picking puffs up with his fingers and getting them in his mouth.
-Loves yogurt
-Learned how to wrinkle his nose. Pretty cute when he smiles and wrinkles his nose.
-20+ lbs
-He started doing what we call "happy hands". It's like clapping but he slaps the tops of his hands. I tried to get a video. It's not the best example but it's close.
-Added oatmeal to his repertoire and he got his first taste of puff corn this weekend
-Got his first dum dum sucker after his flu shot. He did great. I think it was peach. He ate the wrapper before I got a chance to check out what the flavor was :)
-Everett's starting to reach for you when he wants to get picked up. It's feels nice to be wanted :)
-Definitely trying out new sounds. No mama, or dada yet.
-He has a new found interest in Cali. He'd always smiled at her as she walked by before and now he wants to pet her ALL the time. Poor puppy.
Some of the same...
-Still struggling with tummy time and rolling over. He thinks his arm should be behind him when he tries to roll over...silly kid. He's doing much better on his tummy though. I'll put him on his knees and he sits and rocks on his hands and knees. So we're getting there!
 |
| Ya...that's not going to work... |
-Still loves to bounce
-Very busy and very observant. He doesn't miss much. He fully checks you out before making a decision about you. Always taking in everything whenever we go to the store or out eat
-He's very quiet and observant with lots of people around or with strangers. One on one he's got a lot to say!
-He LOVES pretty girls already. Amazing that we can notice a difference already. Our teenage babysitter had him giggling within 2 minutes of meeting and he is still standoffish with our daycare lady's 13 year old son and husband.
-Still sleeping great. Maybe phasing out 1 of the 3 naps.
-No new teeth. Just the 2 front on the bottom. Beyond adorable.
-Still drooling like a maniac. No sign of new teeth.
